The Beretta 92FS has been setting the standard for top military and police tactical pistols for over a quarter century. Designated the M9 by the US military and current sidearm in service for the US military and countless law enforcement agencies, the 92FS is as accurate, reliable, and durable as semi-automatic handguns come.
The Beretta 92FS is a DA/SA pistol that employs an open-slide, short-recoil delayed locking-block system, which yields a faster cycle time and delivers exceptional accuracy and reliability. The open-slide design helps to virtually eliminate stove-piping and aids in flawless and reliable cycling, even in extreme conditions. Beretta employs several levels of safeties into the 92FS. A visible and tactile automatic firing pin block prevents any forward movement of the firing pin until the trigger is pulled straight back. A positive safety/decocker is used to both drop the hammer safely and act as a trigger safety. A half-cock notch prevents discharge on an unintentional hammer drop.
The 92FS comes with a variety of features to promote usability and longevity of the firearm. The magazine release is reversible for left-handed operators and the decocker/safety lever come ambidextrous on the slide. Disassembly is made easy and tool-free with one simple take-down lever for field stripping. Each 92FS is built on a forged, aircraft-grade light aluminum frame and coated with Beretta’s exclusive Bruniton to provide a matte, no-glare finish and superior corrosion and wear resistance. The 92FS comes complete with a visual and tactile chamber indicator and checkering on the hammer, grip, and trigger guard. No detail was too small or overlooked in the development of one of the world’s most popular pistols.
